12th-16th JUNE 2023

Our Active Schools Week got off to a flying start with the Active School Committee doing a brilliant obstacle course for the whole school to use. Each day, the whole school participated in the morning jog and exercises – led by the Active Schools Committee and there were football and soccer tournaments played everyday throughout the week.

On our second day, Junior infants to second class had a tutor from Limerick Sports Partnership. Yvonne did some fantastic games with the pupils. From parachute games, egg and spoon race, beanbag races, relay races and much more. They loved every minute of it. Third to sixth class went to the town park for a biodiversity trail. They also stopped at the monument in the Killarney road where two boys were shot by the Black and Tans in a revenge attack in 1920. Jeremiah Healy and Patrick Harnett R.I.P. They had a great day and finished off with a treat from the Siopa.

The third day was very exciting. The pupils learned how to play rounders – which was great fun. Then in the evening, we had the Teachers Vs Pupils in Basketball Hot Seat competition. Wonderful atmosphere – check out our video!

On day four, we all participated in a whole school walk around the Caher Ring taking in the Wild Atlantic Way. The pupils also had a huge water fight. It was amazing!

On day five, our fine weather broke. Unfortunately, we couldn’t participate in outside activities so we did some balloon noodle in the classrooms. We also had a huge surprise! The ice cream van came and each pupil got an ice cream.
