Meenkilly National School recently participated in the exciting Skip Around Europe Challenge. Every day, the entire school community—from Junior Infants to Sixth Class—enjoyed an extra ten minutes of skipping together. Laughter and energy filled the yard as children skipped alongside their friends, improving their skills while having great fun.

Each time a child completed ten skips, they placed a cube into a class collection box. The Active School Committee took on the important job of counting the cubes and calculating how far we had collectively “travelled” across Europe. They kept everyone informed by sharing our destinations with each class, sparking curiosity and learning as children discovered fun facts about the countries they reached.

To mark the final day of the challenge, the Active School Committee created a special video inviting parents to join in the fun and help us gain even more ground. It was a fantastic initiative that brought the whole school community together and encouraged everyone—young and old—to stay active and improve their skipping skills.
