For the past four weeks, the pupils of Meenkilly NS have been enthusiastically taking part in the Active Break Challenge. Each classroom received a special chart to track their progress, with our Active School Committee (ASC) helping to record activities such as dance, running, using the walkway, and classroom exercises. Every day, we’ve aimed to tick off all four activities – and the pupils have been giving it their very best effort!

The challenge has brought great energy and excitement into our school day. Short bursts of activity not only keep us healthy and active, but also help reduce sedentary time, which can have a positive effect on concentration and learning. Research shows that incorporating movement into the school routine can improve focus, memory, and overall academic performance – and our pupils have certainly felt the benefits.

We are very proud of the commitment shown by every class in Meenkilly NS. The Active Break Challenge has reminded us that being active isn’t just good for our bodies – it’s good for our brains too!
