Day 4 began with a dull, wet, and misty morning, but that didn’t dampen our spirits! Each classroom kicked off the day with a fun game of Balloon Noodle, keeping everyone active and entertained indoors.

At 10:30 a.m., our 3rd and 4th class pupils headed to a Hurling Blitz in Templeglantine, proudly representing our school. They had a fantastic time playing as a team and showcasing their skills.

Back at school, we also had hurling and camogie practice with Ms. Shanahan. Pupils worked on their basic skills and put them into action in a friendly match. It was a great session, full of energy and enthusiasm.

Thankfully, the rain held off during lunch, so our Soccer and Football Tournament continued outside. It was brilliant to get some fresh air and stay active!

As the mist returned in the afternoon, we set up table tennis in Mrs. Gleeson’s room. All classrooms got the chance to take part, with or without a bat! It was all about fun, movement, and encouraging one another — and the children absolutely loved it.

It was another jam-packed, energetic day at Meenkilly. Both pupils and staff were truly “burning the wick at both ends” — and loving every minute of it!

Active Breaks for All!
Every child stays active during every break and lunchtime, with access to a wide range of equipment. Thanks to the support of our fantastic Active Schools Committee, equipment is shared fairly, set up, and tidied away after each break. Their teamwork helps make sure everyone has the chance to play, move, and enjoy being active every day!
