Day 5 brought an unexpected but very welcome surprise — although poor weather had been forecast, we were treated to the best day of the week with glorious sunshine and high spirits all around!
We kicked off the day with basketball skills led by Ms. Nolan. She introduced us to the basics before setting up a fun and lively boys vs. girls match. The pupils threw themselves into the game with great energy, and the laughter and teamwork made it a real highlight of the morning.
Next up, Mrs. Gleeson and the Active School Committee unveiled a revamped Walkway Route, complete with brand-new activity signs. This “Wellness and Exercise Trail” was designed to encourage mindfulness and movement.
Third and Fourth Classes paired with Junior and Senior Infants, while Fifth and Sixth Classes buddied up with First and Second. As they made their way through the 14 stations, pupils practised breathing techniques, listened to birds singing, watched clouds drift by, and completed various exercises along the way. The sunshine made the whole experience even more memorable and peaceful.

Our soccer tournament continued with more matches filled with skill, enthusiasm, and excellent team spirit. The friendly competition kept everyone on their toes.

Later, we had the joy of supporting our neighbour across the road, who was holding an Ice Cream Day in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland. Each class took a turn to join the celebration and enjoy a well-deserved ice cream to cool off. It was a sweet treat for a great cause!

After lunch, the excitement ramped up even more as the Active School Committee set up a brilliant Teacher vs. Pupils Obstacle Course. The course had it all – skipping, hopping, water relays, shooting hoops, running ladders, and crawling challenges. The competition was fierce but friendly, and in the end, the pupils triumphed over the teachers, earning a well-deserved victory! Cheers and encouragement echoed around the school yard as everyone got involved.
To top it off, each class had a go at the obstacle course, enjoying every second of the challenge. With music playing in the background, the yard was filled with joy, movement, and laughter – the perfect atmosphere to end the week on a high note.
A huge thank you to all the teachers, committee members, and pupils for making Active Schools Week such a special and unforgettable experience!
